In Gratitude and Appreciation

JANICE BUCK obituary, Westwood, MA

We here at Friends of Peabody are greatly saddened to lose a member of our team, Janice Buck. When her daughter Ellie enrolled at Peabody, Janice jumped in with two feet, volunteering her skills, wisdom and humor to help with all facets of FoP, especially the finances. She shunned the spotlight, but did more than pull her weight with her positive, pragmatic, and thorough approach to our work. We are committed to continuing that work as we extend our love to Ellie and Darren and work to build a community for Ellie, her classmates, and the whole Peabody family.

Friends of Peabody (FoP) is a non-profit organization that raises funds to enrich the Peabody School community. Its mission is to make grants to enhance educational activities, foster a strong and vibrant community, and highlight Peabody School students’ and staffs’ strengths, hard work and achievements.

At FoP, all parents, caregivers, teachers and staff are welcomed and have a voice. FoP is a part of Connections, Peabody’s parent/caregiver engagement and advocacy organization.

The 4th grade is so fortunate to have received grants from FoP. Our wonderful history trip to the Tsongas Industrial History Center in Lowell would not have been possible without their generous support. We are doubly grateful for the opportunity to attend a performance of the world-renowned Boston Ballet Nutcracker. For some of our students, it is a first time theater opportunity and a once in a lifetime experience.

“Funds from the FoP have funded school-wide assemblies with Grammy award winning artists, performance majors from Longy and the Worcester Opera Company, and our music library.”
