Welcome to the new school year!

Everyone at Friends of Peabody is excited about the start of the 2018-19 school year. We will be selling t-shirts and the new Raspberry cards at this week’s curriculum night. At our first monthly meeting we have already started to plan for our annual events like the Ragnar race, the social night, and our annual solicitation.

We will continue to have our meetings at 7:30 am in the school library on the second Friday of each month. Our next meeting will be on October 12; please come join us if you’re interested in getting involved with Friends of Peabody in any way. We are always looking for new ideas and new parents who’d like to get involved.

Library Wish List

See the flyer below for information on how to donate a new book the Peabody library. You can do this easily at Amazon (here’s our referral link) and it helps to keep the library well-stocked with new and exciting books for the kids. The library always needs new books to add to its collection because:

  • Books get lost, worn, and outdated
  • Books are expensive-and the current budget doesn’t cover all the library needs
  • The curriculum is always evolving-particularly in STEAM-and our collection needs to keep pace
  • Children’s interests and tastes change and we want our students to have the “new hot titles” that foster their love of reading.

2018 Ragnar Relay

On May 11-12, a dedicated and crazy group of Peabody School parents and supporters are teaming up to run the Ragnar Cape Relay again. Our team is willing to take on this 190-mile course, stretching from Nantasket Beach all the way to the tip of Provincetown, to raise money for  enrichment programs at The Andrew Peabody Elementary School – Cambridge, MA (Official). Last year our runners, volunteers, and donors raised $6,945 for school enrichment activities! You can be a part of this amazing event by making a donation to support the team’s fundraising goals or contact Jenn McManus-Goode if you’d be interested in running, driving or sponsoring.

Support the Peabody Pumas Ragnar team at the Crowdrise page. Finally, check out this fun video of the team at last year’s relay!
